Get on board for a cruise on the Canal de l’Ourcq, from the Bassin de La Villette to the Parc de la Poudrerie. And why not take your bke with you to come back on the cycle path of the canal ? It is a great opportunity to discover the industrial heritage of the Prisian rivers in a dilightful natural atmosphere.
The sailor of the Pierre-Simon Girard boat, who is an expert on the Canal de l’Ourcq and its stories, will be your guide. The adventure starts after having crossed the Crimé lift bridge, you will sail into the heart of the Parc de La Villette and go passed the former Moulins de Pantin and the imposing Magasins Généraux which are reminders of the industrial history of the Ourcq canal. Little by little the landscape changes, the town disappears and the row of poplars reflect on the water.
In Aulnay-sous-Bois, the canal returns to its original size where only the flûtes de l’Ourcq (long and thin boats with flat base) could sail. To finish, you will enter the gorgeous forest path through the lock of Livry-Gargan: the stoned walls and high trees will make you forget where you are.
After 2 hours of commented cruise, you will have the choice between taking a stroll in the Parc de la Poudrerie, or just relax in the meadows of the park which spread over the cities of Sevran, Livry-Gargan, Villepinte and Vaujours. Do not forget to check the Ete du Canal festival and activities.
You can also try a visit of the Park by Jacky Libaud, a specialist in wildlife and flora
Don’t hesitate to take your picnic on board to eat on the boat or in the Parc de la Pourdrerie
