During this tour in the streets of Jourdain, Belleville and Ménilmontant, Juliette Dubois will reveal the stories of cinema that have marked this neighborhood, one of the cradles of cinema in Paris.
From the Buttes-Chaumont park passing through Bolivar square, you will discover the different places of the 20th arrondissement, where have been filmed movies like Mood Indigo by Michel Gondry, the Palme d’Or winner from 2008, The Class, or the American movie, The Bourne Identity.
Since the beginning, filmmakers have always been inspired by these popular neighborhoods of Paris to tell stories that meet theirs: social cinema but also French thrillers highlighting characters to which the audience could identify.
It is also where Gaumont established his movie studios at the birth of cinema and where Jacques Becker shot the classic French movie, Casque d’Or.
The cinematographic history is rich as the neighborhood’s role is much more than being just a set.
