Stand up paddle (SUP), an offshoot of surfing, originated in Hawaii. Unlike traditional surfing where the rider sits on their board until they can catch a wave, stand-up paddle boarders stand on their boards and use a paddle to propel themselves across the water. It’s a great sport for exercising your whole body – it helps build muscular strength and develop balance.1
Don’t worry if you’re a complete beginner – our coaches can teach paddle boarders of any level. You’ll soon feel quite the expert!
You may find the first few minutes a bit scary, but you’ll quickly gain confidence and discover that it’s actually very easy. Enjoy a great experience gliding on top of the water, taking in the scenery and being waved to by admiring riverside walkers.
