A guided architectural tour highlighting the art nouveau and art deco styles which flourished during the late 19th/early 20th century and the 20s and 30s in Nogent-sur-Marne and Le Perreux-sur-Marne, bordering the Bois de Vincennes in Paris.
The population explosion towards the end of the 19th century and the development of new leisure activities on the banks of the Marne River (guinguettes, or waterside restaurants with music and dancing, bal-musette, water sports, etc.) transformed the urban landscape.
New lifestyles and new methods of construction triggered a period of intense architectural creativity that you will discover during this visit.
Please note: this guided tour is available in French only. Your guide will greet you in English but all the commentary will be in French. But don’t let this discourage you – it’s still a great opportunity to discover some of the remarkable art nouveau and art deco buildings in this residential area.
