Get on board the Pierre-Simon Girard boat for a cruise on the Canal de l’Ourcq from the Parc de La Poudrerie to Paris, at the Bassin de La Villette. And why not come back the other way on your bike ? This cruise is a great opportunity to discover the History of the fluvial heritage of Paris in a delighting natural context.
Embark from the gorgeous country park of Sevran, known as « Parc de la Pourdrerie », which links nature to industry by hosting the vestiges of the biggest national gunpowder factory French history has ever known !
From the boat, you’ll admire the nice forest with its high timber trees. After the Sevran lock, you will see ranges of poplars reflected in the water as the city appears. You will then go past the Parc de la Bergère of Bobigny where the Eté du Canal takes place.
The industrial history of the canal left traces: Brick walls on which we now find street-art or old buildings such as the Magasins Généraux restored to start a new, more artistic, life.
The Parc de la Villette will mark the end of the cruise.
Don’t forget to take your picnic to eat on the boat.
