Paris's famous covered and secret passages
View date

Description

This historic stroll through Paris' pretty glass-roofed passageways moves discreetly from one street to the next, the transition certainly being a Parisian invention. From the spectacles of the Grands Boulevards to the pleasure galleries of the Palais Royal, discover the city's vibrant 19th-century life of elegance, commerce and intrigue.

Every passageway is an escape from street noise and traditional or large-scale stores. Some of the galleries are home to stores, mainly for antiques and old books, that have been open since the 19th century.

Since the restoration and return to favor of Parisian covered passageways in the 1980s, some galleries have become very busy. Trendy restaurants and the latest or most unusual boutiques alternate with older or more traditional stores.

The guided walk will explore the best-known and most beautiful passages on the Right Bank, from north to south, while appreciating the different evolutions of these atypical and timeless places.

This tour is conducted in english.
