Description

In the heart of Paris, join Juliette Dubois for a visit to this extraordinary place where it's said there's not a soul to be seen. But it's also the home of many cinephiles from another era: Georges Méliès, Sarah Bernhardt, Michel Legrand, Anna Karina and Simone Signoret. Often used as a backdrop for the 7th art, the Père Lachaise cemetery inspires international filmmakers who love to film this exceptional place, known as much for the beauty of its landscapes as for the famous people buried there. Juliette Dubois will take you on a two and a half hour walk through the alleys and between the tombs to discover cinema and its most illustrious representatives.

During the tour, you will have the opportunity to have a look at several tombs, for example:

  • From Sarah Bernhardt to Anna Karina, a tribute to some great actresses
  • In the listed columbarium, scenes filmed by Truffaut or Verhoeen
  • When the supernatural borders on the frightening, the cemetery provides the ideal backdrop
  • Oscar Wilde, Jim Morrison - the cemetery's most visited tombs are also among the most filmed

When you hear "Paris in the movies", a thousand images and stories immediately come to mind. Ciné-Balade was born from the desire to show and tell them. Juliette Dubois, a film historian, launched the Ciné-Balade concept in 2011 with the aim of using cinema to rediscover Paris and its cultural heritage.
