The Maximum workshops: the second life of waste
View date

Description

The Maximum company makes designer furniture from industrial waste. The aim is to offer high-quality furniture, made in France and entirely ‘recycled’.

How does it work? To produce its goods, a factory unwittingly generates a second output: its waste. Scraps, pre-production runs, misfits, shimming parts, margins of error, purges, downgrades, surpluses... In France, industry rejects a third of its production in the form of scrap. That's 65,000 tonnes of material every day...

Waste is devalued, considered unsaleable and therefore of no importance. However, it is an interesting source for new production and other uses. Maximum workshops use this devalued waste to produce functional, stylish and modern furniture.

Take a guided tour of their workshops to find out more about their approach and the issues involved. You can also take a look at their latest productions!

The visit will be an opportunity to discuss design, production, reuse and the circular economy. There's plenty to be curious about!
